Baroque architecture
"The Baroque is a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, literature, dance, and music"

today quiapo church have a very high ceiling unlike then the ceiligs were on the right scale truss design can be visible to the people. there were still row of columns as a divider.
BAROQUE CHARACTERISTICS
twisted columns
today not much of the twisted columns can be seen in the interior of the church due to the removal of the set of columns. The church had a major change to give more space to the devotees of the Black Nazarene which is in a way good but the architectural beauty of the church was lessened for convenience.
Oval Windows
set of oval shaped window gives natural lighting to the church
SAN AGUSTIN CHURCH,INTRAMUROS
QUICK BACKGROUND
"The present structure is actually the third Augustinian church erected on the site. The first San Agustin Church was the first religious structure constructed by the Spaniards on the island of Luzon. Made of bamboo and nipa, it was completed in 1571, but destroyed by fire in December, 1574 during the attempted invasion of Manila by the forces of Limahong. A second church made of wood was constructed on the site. This was destroyed in February 1583, in a fire that started when a candle set ablaze the drapes of the funeral bier during the interment of the Spanish Governor-General Gonzalo Ronquillo de Peñalosa. The Augustinians decided to rebuild the church using stone, and to construct an adjacent monastery. Construction began in 1586, based on a design by Juan Macías. The structure was built using hewn adobe stones quarried from Meycauayan, Binangonan and San Mateo, Rizal. The work proceeded slowly due to the lack of funds and materials, as well as the relative scarcity of stone artisans." -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Agustin_Church,_Manila
no baroque characteristics can be seen outside/ or on the exterior of the church. only the tiwsted columns and oval windows. The Exteriro have a plain design and seems like that its beauty can be seen inside the church

The altar is so breathe taking with the highly detailed designs from the columns to the base of the altar.
thought to myself:this church reminds of the Immculate conception church with the design but most probably this is much more beautiful than that.
SANTA CRUZ CHURCH

its exterior have a typical design with the oval windows and doors and dome shaped bell tower.
while its interior is very beautiful and I am speechless the detailed designs, detailed frescos and wall/ceiling painting, dome shaped ceiling on the crossing part of the church. The altar looks like a church itself with its dome shaped design on top the capitals and oval shaped openings.
all of the churches have similarities with their design be it exterior or interior designs. most of them are simple on the outside but grandeur on the inside truly something we should preserve and take care of for the rest of our lives.
